Deborah, I seem to have some link in my gene search for my ancestors named Woods, with the Espy (Espey?) family of PA. My GGGF James Henry Woods was born in PA in 1820, on 1840 census of Mercer Co, PA and may have been in one or more counties along PA's western border, the name Hazelwood seems a thread, as the city of Pittsburgh was surveyed by Geoge Woods of Bedford Co, including its 15th Ward. I also have reason to think I'm descended from George's brother John, tho its now only a suspicion. My Woods family (James Henry-often called by name of Henry-- in about 1850 moved from around the Ohio River area to IL in 1861, to MO by 1870 (Hazelwood Twp, Webster Co, MO.) Have you any research indicating an Espy-Woods link, perhaps by marriage? bob in OK.
