Winder Kenner, b cir 1769 Edgecombe Co, NC was the son of Francis and Elizabeth Howard Kenner, grandson of Howson Francis and Margaret Eskridge Kenner and great grandson of Capt Francis and Hannah Howson Kenner. Winder was in Hawkins Co, TN by 1792 and moved to Greene Co, MO sometime after 1830 where he died in 1856.
Winder's headstone in the McCraw Cemetery in Green Co, MO was taken by vandals sometime in the 1950's and his grave has been marked only by a cedar tree that was behind it. Last Saturday I received an email from a gentleman who had purchased a large load of used brick from a salvage yard several years ago. Recently the headstone surfaced as the brick was being used. Photos sent to me show the stone to be totally unharmed and very legible. Next week we are having a ceremony to rededicate the stone and place it back where it belongs. Miracles do happen! Winder is my ggggg grandfather and I am thrilled to death about this find.
