I wish to send warm greetings to all those attending the Eskridge Family Reunion! Although I haven't met any of you, except a few descendants several years ago, I share your desire to preserve family history and renew your family memories and spirit. You see, my family, although African American, is very much connected to yours. My ancestors carried the same surname as yours, and lived on some of the same plantations as your ancestors, and died on the same as well. It was by researching and studying your cherished lineage beginning with Colonel George Eskridge of Sandy Point, VA that I was able to piece together my own family lineage going back one generation at a time. Through wills, inventories, deeds, tax records, marriage records, and, yes, slave records, I traced my line through your lines, and ended with a tribe in Africa and the name of my ancestor who worked side-by-side the Colonel's family. Let us celebrate; May both our families celebrate together our shared past, reaching out to each other.
