The Hocken Library in Dunedin has in its collection a watercolour portrait attributed to a Ralph E Erskine. The work is dated 1848 and depicts a local Maori girl Fanny Weller. There are no other known works by Ralph Erskine in New Zealand and we assume that he passed through briefly. Does he belong to anyone out there?
