Searching for the parents and origins of Russell Erskine b. 12 Sep 1892, possibly WV, d. 20 Jul 1957; Russell married Lydia Withrow, d/o George Washington Withrow and Elva Wells of Carter Co. Kentucky. Russell and Lydia married 19 May 1914 in Lawrence Co. OH. Russell served in the army in WWI and was present at the Battle of the Argonne Forest where he was a victim of mustard gas. The WV National Guard Collection (WV Archives) lists Russell in 1912 as living in Huntington with an occupation of "railroader". Lydia is found living in Huntington, WV in 1920 with her half sister, Carilda Withrow Carico, and then in 1930 living with her father George Washington Withrow in Ashland, Greenup Co. KY. Five children: Lillian, Russell Jr., Elva, Hazel M., and Paul, who died as a toddler. Russell Sr. spent most of his life in veteran's hospitals, coming home only briefly from time to time. If anyone recognizes Russell, I'd most certainly appreciate any information. Thanks!
