Marr Connection to John Erskine

I have been told through several members of my family that there is a connection between John Erskine, the one nicknamed bobbin john and our branch of the Marr family. We are related to Lawrence Marr who we have been told most likely was this John Erskines brother. Does anyone have information that can clear this up for me?
