Alan,

The Compact message is normal, when FTM2012 closes incorrectly.

Please provide a little more detail on "after the hint is applied". I don't know what that means.

When you select a Hint, more details are supplied, # of Hints for Records and # of Personal Trees. Starting from there what do you do to "apply" the hint.
