Thanks Russ for the response. I have been to the sites you suggest and done all that and MORE. None of what I did made any difference to how the FTM2012 operated. I get only one error always as a window "Backup was unable to ...." and when I OK this the program disappears off the screen and within a few seconds the ever so famous error report send it to Uncle Bill comes up. I cancel this and the FTM.EXE stops running (seen via task manager). Four entries are placed in the NT Event application log each and every time.
By the way, I am backing up to a different area of the same disk and then I copy that to a thumb drive, when it works.
As a backup now, I am simply copying the main file and media files off to the thumb drive.
ON a side note, is this web site always so slow? I have taken nearly 10 minutes to get in here from the log in page..
