Error Message with Family Tree Maker

I have this error message:
Family Tree Maker 2011 was not properly closed the last time it was used. You may need to compact your last opened file to resolve any issues caused by an improper shutdown. To compact the file choose "compact file from the tools menu.
You can't do this because you can't get into the program. Looked on line for solutions, tried them all, doesn't work. Deleted FTM 9, 10 and 11, completely lost my whole family tree, because even though I had saved it, it appears to be corrupted. Hate Family Tree Maker right now and everything about it. Sent e-mail to FTM, with all of the info, including telling them I was using Windows 7 and they sent back a message telling me they needed more information including with version of Windows I was using. Obviously didn't even ready my e-mail. If anyone has found any better programs than FTM, please let me know and if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this so I can use the crappy program I would appreciate it.
