Herman August Ernst married Mary Panek on August 23, 1899 in Cresco, Iowa.He was born in 1875 supposedly in Czechoslovakia according to His son’s (Art) wife Agnes.Mary was born in about 1881. Mary has been rumored to be a gypsy, implying perhaps incorrectly, she was from Yugoslavia or Rumania.
Art and Agnes spent their winters in Apache Jct. Arizona.Apache Jct is about 20 miles East of Phoenix.Art died in 2007
Herman was a brick mason.He and Mary lived their married life in Cresco, Iowa. They had 13 children.The oldest was Emmet Friedrich Ernst. He was born March 12, 1902.He was my Dad.The other brothers and sisters generally lived in Iowa and Minnesota.One sister moved to New York.
Emmet was called Ted by everyone who knew him and Bumps by his family.He married a school teacher, Jessie Bleasner, from Eagle Grove, Iowa, on June 28, 1928.They had one son, Donald Dale (me), on January 19, 1932 in Spokane, Washington.Ted was a traveling salesman and worked for The Burroughs Adding Machine Company, the Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Company and a number of otherfirms.He died in 1988.Jessie taught school until her retirement and died in 1991.
He has one other livingbrother I am aware of, the youngest sibling, Clarence who lives in South St Paul, Minnesota with his wife Katie.
I am a retired Civil Engineer. I married Patty Dolores Taylor in Spokane, WA on April 15, 1961.We have two children Catherine Viola Gould who was an Actuarial Consultant in Boulder, Colorado and Jeffrey Clark, who isa Pediatrician in Shoreline, Washington.
