Arnaud, it is my understanding that the surname "Erhard" originated from the first name of "Erhard." The earliest Erhard I've found is that of Erhard I - Count of Brienne. His grandson, Erhard II, also Count of Brienne, was killed during the Crusades at Acre in 1191. Do you have any information on when perhaps "Erhard" became a surname? Any information that you may have would be appreciated. Thanks... jebean
