Hampton moved his family to Bradley County, Tennessee after the Civil War for Georgia was ravaged and burned.He moved between 1868 and 1871.On page 468 of the 1880 Bradley County census itshows him living there with his wife, Elizabeth and two daughters, Georgian (22), Harriatt (15) and four sons, Thomas (12), George (9), Robert (7) and John (one month old).The census shows that Thomas was born in Georgiain 1868 and George was born in Tennessee in 1871. The census shows that Hampton was a farmer.
Hampton died between 1883 and 1900. The 1900 census shows that Elizabeth was a widow and living in Meigs County,Tennessee with three sons and stepdaughter.
