Ralf,
My great-great grandfather is an Erbes from Hesse. According to the christening record of his daughter, Philippine who was born in Gensingen in 1857, he was from Bubenheim. However, we do not know if this is where he was born.Heinrich Frederich Erbes married Gertrude Lücker of Gensingen sometime before 1857 (I think). Their second child, John, was also born in Gensingen. After that they came to the States and settled in southern Illinois. I was wondering if, by any chance, he would be related to your Erbes. We haven't been able to trace him back beyond 1857. It would be wonderful if you could shed any light on this.
Thanks (vielen Dank!)
Eleanor
