I have read all of the querys concerning Peter Erb who lived in Maryland with interest. He is my ancestor through his daughter Catherine who married Ludwig Meyer/Myers 1757-1829. They are buried in Adams Co, Pa. in the Lower Bermudian Lutheran Cemetery between York Springs and Hampton. We are presently doing a direct ancestor "tree" for our children and grandchildren. Before we complete this project, we are checking the last family on each "branch" to see if anyone on the net has something further back. In checking the Erb messages, I became aware that Peter Erb was married to a Spangler. (The in/en ending is the feminine form of a surname in the old German.)I immediately went to my Spanger/Spengler Genealogy ,published in 1896, and checked the index for Peter Erb. Sure enough, he was there. This is the information given for this couple:
"Judith ,wife of Peter Erb (daughter of Jonas Spengler) She was born before 1750. Lived in Manheim Township, and afterwards moved to Frederick Co.,Md. Some of the descendants are said to live in Silver Run, Carrol Co., Md.Letters sent to them failed to receive a response"
I descend from Jones Spangler's son Rudolph so I suppose that makes me a relitave of myself! The Spanglers in the genealogy go back to the eleven hundreds. If anyone would be willing to exchange information on the early Erbs , in exchange for Spangler or Myers information, I would be happy to write to you. Thank you, Fred Shriner
