I appreciate your finding that out for me. It has been difficult to find Bertha V. and her sisters' parents. Please tell me any more information that you may have. What puzzles me is why they abandoned their daughters. There is evidence that by their teen years, each is working as a servant, or else is on their own working--which was unusual for women at that time. Anything you have would be great. Thank you so much. I have heard numerous stories, but nothing has been revealed. - Joan
