Hi Norm,
Thanks so much for taking the time to look up Benjamin. I think you may be right, it is a puzzle where he really came from. Would you happen to know what census you saw the other Benjamin F. Ensor on? Maybe I can look at it, and see if it sounds like it could be our Ben. I have even thought maybe he went by another last name when he was young, like a step-father situation or something like that, but I could be all wrong.
