The similarities of Thaddeus T.A. ENSOR and John C. ENSOR being carpenters and residing in Baltimore City, MD are interesting. However, I can find no other connection. In my opinion, they were distant cousins. I seem to remember that the CANAPP (Knapp?) family was related, possibly via adoption, to a Nathan ENSOR who may have been the one who married Rebecca RANDALL.
Thaddeus Theodore Augustus was born about Sept. 1844 (calc.); he was buried in Oct. 1905 at age 61 yrs. and 1 mo. He was son of an Isaac ENSOR and Isaac's second wife (name unknown at this time). Thaddeus served as a private in 1865 in the Maryland Volunteers. In 1868 he m. Mary Maria GRIFFITH; she died in March 1877 followed in May 1877 by their son Theo. Thadeus. Other children were Florence, Mary, Wm. Henry (m. Gertrude Matilda ENSOR 1895), May (Ida May? b. 1877 or 1878; d. c. Aug. 1934 and possibly from Thaddeus, Sr.'s second marriage), and Victor. Thaddeus m. (2) Annie R. ___, by whom he had George H. and Raymond DeS., both of whom died in infancy. Annie filed an invalid [i.e., disability] pension app. in 1892, and a widow's pension app. in 1905. Other than your information from the 1880 census, I have no information on Thaddeus' children named James ENSOR and Sophia KNAPP. Was the 1880 census data recorded for Baltimore City or Baltimore County?
