It has been some time since I put out plea for help on info on ENSMINGER family(s)in South Carolina in late 1700's/early 1800's. I may make this an annual new year's effort in hopes of connecting with someone to get past this "brick wall". My GGrandfather, William Pryor ENSMINGER is noted as born in 1807 in South Carolina. I know per 1830 census records that there was one Frederick ENSMINGER family in Fairfield County (Males: 1 - 10/15, 1 - 20/30, 2 - 30/40; Females: 1 - 30/40). It is possible that the 20/30 male is my William Pryor, but I don't know this for sure. I have found no ENSMINGER family listed in a census prior to 1830. I don't know when William Pryor made his move to Franklin Parish, Louisiana, but it must have been prior to January, 1836 when his first son, Andrew Jackson ENSMINGER was born in Louisiana. William Pryor's first wife was Elizabeth TOLAR (noted in 1880 Franklin Parish census by son as being born in Louisiana). I have not found record of this marriage, nor do I have more information on her. He later married again in Louisiana to Mary Ann BOWMAN. I also have reason to believe that William Pryor may have had brother (or other kin), David ENSMINGER that could have come to Louisiana with him or at about the same time. It may be that David could have been the younger male in the 1830 Frederick ENSMINGER census household. Anyone that might be able to help or have ideas on the South Carolina ENSMINGER connection - would like to hear from you. Will be glad to share information I have on descendants of William Pryor ENSMINGER. Notify Administrator about this message?
