Correction: My grandmother would have been Monte Mae Hatton not Ensley...I always think of her as an Ensley, because it is the family we know the most about I guess. Okay, from my mother's account, she confirmed the name of Monte Tinch's father was Simon Couch. She did not remember that Simon had moved to Kentucky, but did say he didn't likely marry Monte's mother. The fact that Monte Tinch was likely born out of wedlock probably lead to the parents being such a secret for years. It wasn't until he was very old that he passed any information on to my grandmother. As to Monte Tinch's mother, her name was Mary or Elizabeth, according to my mother. She thinks it was more likely Elizabeth (I don't have how they might have spelled the name since there can be many variations). My mother said she knows that her Aunt Mary Elizabeth Hatton (i.e. my grandmother's sister) was named after grandaddy Hatton's mother. Monte Tinch's aunt (his mother's sister) raised him. Again, the details are a little clearer, but there is some information we can probably get from my grandmother's notes. My mother is going to see my grandmother today, so she will see if she can find what was written down from grandaddy Hatton's account. Notify Administrator about this message?
