J. Lee Ensign
J. Lee Ensign, a native of Lime Rock, and for the past 50 years an employee of the Falls Village Savings Bank, died suddenly while at work on Wednesday morning of last week.Death was caused by heart disease, with which he had suffered for more than a year.Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Trinity Episcopal church, Lime Rock with burial in the Lime Rock cemetery.
Born in 1854 at the old Ensign home, he attended Lime Rock Public Schools and later Rocky Dell Academy.For several years he was engaged in secretarial work, entering the employ of the Falls Village bank fifty years ago last January.He was cashier of that institution at the time of his death.Son of James and Julia G. Ensign, he married Flora Weising, of Lime Rock in April 1862.She survives him, as do two sisters, Miss J. Ellen Ensign and Miss Harriet Ensign.
In addition to his duties as a offical at the bank, he has served his community both in civic and community projects, and has been an active work in church affairs.
