I have looked through my material and am reminded again of something I think I should say about research of the Enroughtys. Since this family line posting has not been up long there are a mere handful of us interested at this point and my comments seem appropriate. Please be advised that you are likely to find almost nothing trying to work by yourself. No amount of attempted personal contact with others of the name Enroughty ever netted me anything. A long week spent in the research center at Salt Lake City netted me almost nothing. There is a fact known by many professional genealogists that the surnames Darby and Enroughty have been used interchangeably through the centuries in most unique and unexpected ways. It's an interesting and mysterious story, but it confuses family research. A series of events eventually led me to a professional whose work clarified all I needed and wanted to know. Her work covered a wide range of the Enroughtys as she pursued my particular line. She became interested in the family quirks. I suspect she retains all of her records. Anyone interested in her name and address can say so to me on this forum and we can negotiate more about her location through e-mail. Let me also add that I'm assuming your interest is to go as far back as possible and not to stop, for example, in mid-19th C.
