Margaret Joana Hemby wife of James F. Enox
I have also posted this query with the new forum for the ENOX spelling...sorry for any inconveniece.
I am looking for information on any Hemby (Himby, Hamby, Hemly, Hembry, Hembree, etc.) that lived in the Red River Co. TX area that could be a relative to Margaret Joana Hemby.
She supposedly was born in Texas. She shows up on one census that I can find, the 1860 Lamar Co. TX.If she was born in Texas her father/mother should also show up, and since she was listed as being 22 on the 1860 census, she would have been born around 1838.I cannot find any family with a Margaret, Joana, Joanna, or M. J. in any Texas county for the 1850's nor any Hemby's for the 1840 with a female less than 5 years old.I am wondering if the listing on the census as her being born in TX was correct. Most Hemby's from that period of time came in from the AR, MO, TN, NC route.
Margaret was married in 1853 in Lamar Co. TX and died in 1862 in Red River Co. TX so she does not show up on later more informative enumerations.
I have found Jonathan Hemby born in MO in 1822 that was married to an Anna that could be the age of an older brother in N.E. Texas.I also found a headstone for a Sarah Hembree born 1857 and died 1924 in Red River Co. TX.
Any ideas on her possible relatives would be greatly appreciated!
