Carol Beattie,
Thanks for your reply. I will tell you all I know.
Effie's name may not be Ennis. Who know?
Effie was born at Sweet Springs which is near Meadow Bridge. Her mother died when she was 5, and her step father, whose last name was Smith, took her to live with his relatives who treated her badly and would not send her to school. When her older brother got old enough to work in the coalmines, he came and got Effie and took her to live with Ennis relatives who were from Virginia, but who lived at Grandview. Effie lived there until she married. Supposedly, she was part Indian and part heir to a Scottish castle. She never had the money to claim it and pay the taxes. Wallace Ennis, her brother, married "Aunt Birdie" and they lived at Meadow Bridge. Effie married Joseph Bleau and had 4 children: William Bleau, Sam Bleau, Effie Virginia Mae Bleau, and "Boots" (I'm not sure of her real name). Effie Virginia Mae Bleau was born in 1917. I hope this helps you in some way. Let me know.
