Lorri, I'm thrilled to make contact with another researcher of this line, especially since I've had NO other replies! Thank you.

I do not have in my files that ZT Ennis and Margaret Clanton had a son William Porter - but I imagine that the William B. Ennis that I had is actually your William P. I would appreciate any other information that you have about him - because I have next to nothing.

Zachary Taylor Ennis was born 3 Jan 1849, possibly in Chatham County. If I am correct, he is listed on the 1850 and 1860 censuses with parents William P. Ennis and wife Martha. I can provide copies of those census pages if you like. The father William P. Ennis is shown as from Camden SC.

Zachary married Margaret Clanton 8 May 1867 in Pembroke. I obtained a copy of the marriage record - which provides absolutely no further information.

Margaret Clanton was the daughter of John Daniel Clanton and Ellen O. Strickland. She was born Jun 1850 in Bryan County GA. Both she and Zachary died some time after the 1920 census - but I have no idea when.

I found Zachary on the 1870 census of Dooley County - oddly without his family. A very dim photocopy of the 1880 census lists Zachary with Margaret and six children - John, Martha, William, Ella, Julia, James.

The 1900 census shows him with wife Margaret E, son Marshall (whom I think is James Marshall), son Lony, daughters Delia (Ludelia), Minnie (my grandmother), Mary, and son Thomas.

The 1910 census shows only Zachariah T., Margaret E., and Thomas J. in the household.

The 1920 census shows Zack T., Marguerite (she apparently was called by either name), Tom and his wife Beatrice, their son Lonnie, and daughters Lucelia, Mary Bell, and Ruby, then age 2.

I'm looking forward to your information on William Porter Ennis and Florence Cary Griffith. Thanks a lot.
