Yes he must have dropped the "Thomas" as he witnessed my grandmothers marriage cert. as James Victor. Thanks for the clues on the children, I didn't know about Vivian F.F Stevens at all. I also got another two hints in another forum for a Gordon J and a William V which I will have to check out.
