Thanks so much David Boylan for all the information you have posted to me, it has certainly cleared up a few things for me.
Wow now i seem to have found another generation.
I live in Australia so not sure how I can go about looking at what you suggested, but will go into my local library and see what I can find out.
I only recently found out Elijah's father was Samuel, and also Elijahs two siblings, but now I seem to have found out Samuels father now, with your help, very much appreciated. Another family member found that the Branfords own and operated this pub. Have a look if you are interested.

When you see that website they show a Richard Branford operating it in 1836. Then you got a Ezra Branford in 1845 to 1883. Im a little lost with Ezra, I have Elijah having a Ezra but he wasnt born till 1854 in Australia. Elijah Branford and Sussannah Lewis moved to Australia in August 1849) So it says on that advert that a Ezra operated the pub in 1845 to 1883 and started when he was age 37.
Or if im looking at it right.
Richards fathers name was Ezra Branford and he had a brother or father called Richard as well
