George Trist Palmer

I am looking for any direct or indirect descendant or family relations of George Trist Palmer, born in Millbrook, Cornwall England around 1838. When only 13 years of age George joined the British Royal Navy, serving aboard the HMS “Implacable”. During the time of the American Civil War George joined the U.S. Navy at New York in August 1864. After the war, George joined the Merchant Marine service and wound up in Sydney, Australia. George Trist Palmer died on July 3, 1936 at 98 ˝ years of age at the Port Pirie Hospital, South Australia. He is listed on the South Australia BMD Index as being a single man with no known relatives and was buried in Port Pirie Cemetery, Section Protestant 1, Plot 246 in an unmarked grave. In order to acquire a grave marker for his grave, I need to find a family member, since he was never married. With their request a marker can be acquired for free. Please contact jamesmgray@bigpond.com.
