Hello David
I have no confirmation he was a Lord, only by heresay which proves nothing.
I have heared so many differnt story`s about this John Russell whom I am seeking out.
His first born daughter with his wife Marie-Josephe Bergeron is apparently my ggg grandmother on my moms line, then his son John with his wife Marie is my gg grandfather on my dads line.
One story was he was granted the name Lordwith some land in Quebec for some deeds he did ,This is not proven either.
On both my parents lines the story`s are simular.
On my moms line it is said he lost the land in quebec that was granted to him for a French Laywer went to England and disputed his claim and it was revoked from him.
On my dads line they say almost same thing as my moms line.
His marriage to Sarah gives his age putting him born 1758,also one of the census in Quebec gives his age putting him born 1758.
For myself I dont care if he was a Lord or not,I am seeking the truth of where he was born and when and who were his parents. I only know it is said through family history he was born in England. Also I am not 100% sure but on one or two of the census it also said he was from Egland.
In Quebec it is hard to find alot of info on him,but there are times his surname is Spelled Restell,Rosel,De-Rousselle.
His marriage to Sarah was as follows
A document has
john Restel, soldier of 31st,of the parish Quebec and sarah Nanson spinister of the same parish were married on this place by a special comand of colonel French& comander this twenty fourth day of april one thousabd seven hundread and eighty by me david France-De montreallin rector, acting as depty chaplin
in prence of john Rooker & jane Geason or Nason
it is very hard to read!
And to this day I have still not found his marriage record to Marie-Josephe Bergeron. But do have dates and places his seven children with her were born.
