Hello Jackie,
Thanks for the quick reply.I too had found the Ann Read in the LDS and considered her among the children.
The marriage I found was: I was looking for those close to London but did not look for births earlier than Charles in 1829.
READ, Thomas married HOWE, Elizabeth on 2 April 1829, Great Missenden, Buckingham, England.M023482
What you have found is worth considering too.
I also found a Thomas Read born 1789 married an Elizabeth and both were weavers in Bethnal Green.
These two had a daughter Jane in 1828 which seems consistent with a granddaughter of Charles and Annie Shelbourne READ called Dorothy Jane.
Thanks for the birth of James William Read which I was not aware of.
Would you be able to check on Annie Shelbourne whose father I now know is John Shelbourne of London (thanks to another researcher's help)I have a pencilled note from the family stating Annie was born in 1834 but the closest I could find was born in 1833 with father John Shelbourne. Is there any way of checking this family?
With thanks
Lesley
