First of all, thank you everyone for your replies!
I have been finding info, and have found that the 1903 Co. book(when John was still alive) and the later county book (I think in the 1970s) do not agree on many things. There were birth dates for John of 1812 and 1828, but both had the same day and month.
I have Lynham and Sydenham for John's father's name, and Charlotte Ateyo for his mother. One book says John was born in Devonshire, and the other in Somersetshire. One says The father was from Devonshire. 1903 mentions five children; the later mentions six, and then lists six boys, with three girls (same as 1903)girls for either a total of nine children, or the girls belong to a son, John. However, the birthdates are in the 1850s and 1860s, so they must be John O's daughters.
I met a descendant, and she gave me a typed copy of the original that a family member for the newer book. It had many mistakes, but the first book had 1812 for John's birth...John d. about 1916.
Anyway, John, his mother, her second husband (the first died soon after John O was born) and their two children emigrated to Norwalk , Ohio, in 1849.
hopefully, this clears some confusion.
