Hi Barbara,
Is it possible that Eliza died and William re-married??
From the 1881 Census;
Dwelling; Post office, Woolsthorpe, Lincs.
William Lane, 64, Occ-Tailor/Draper, born-Gonerby.
Ann (wife), 62, born-Woolsthorpe.
I do know that Gonerby is close to Grantham, but I'm not sure where Woolsthorpe is, still maybe worth looking into.
