Bill, I would expect that Harmston would come into the Lincoln area and the address for is The Registrar of Births Marriages and Deaths, 4 Lindum Road, Lincoln.
Incidentally, I had another look at the 1881 census and found Henry and Sally, with son Thomas and daughter Eliza at Pit Row 90, Denaby, Yorks. Henry was a coal miner, Thomas a cobbler and Eliza a dressmaker. Their brother John was also a coal miner, lodging at 24 Victoria Street, Swinton in Rotherham, Yorks.
There is no sign anywhere in the country of your Joseph, Charles or Henry Rear jnr. That must mean that either they are mis-recorded or had left the country. The LDS info. suggest that at least Charles died in Alberta - where are you? It also says that Henry jnr. died in 1919 so where was he in 1881? Presumably, given that Joseph was your grandfather, he too lived on after 1881 somewhere!
Regards for now, Sue
