John:
Your James Clayton was christened at St.Margaret, Woodhall, Lincoln on 21 May 1815, so obviously born before that date.
His mother and father were:
George Clayton and Mary Gibbons, married at St. Margaret on 2 May 1806.
His family consisted of:
William, christened 1 March 1807, Horsington, Lincoln
John, christened 28 January 1810, St.Margaret [as were all others]
Elizabeth, christened 29 September 1811
Susanna, christened 2 May 1813
Mary Ann, christened 9 February 1815 [died]
Mary Ann, christened 9 February 1817
Mary, christened 8 March 1818
Jane, christened 8 April 1821
George, christened 20 April 1823
Harriet, christened 7 February 1826

There were a number of George Claytons born in Lincoln in a 10 year frame about 1775/1785 and there were an even larger number of Mary Gibbons born in that same time frame. None from Horsington or Woodhall.
Jack
