Hello, Im wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to find some more information about my Howitt ancestors. My great x 3 grandfather appears in the 1851 census for Lincolnshire, so I wrote away for his marriage certificate. The scant information I now have is : 1851 census Seaman's Yard Spittlegate, Houghton, and Walton Lincolnshire Thomas Howitt abt 1820 Head mar aged 31 ag lab born Ingoldsby,Lincolnshire, England Elizabeth Howitt (nee Green) abt 1820 Wife mar aged 31 born Spittlegate,Lincolnshire, England Emma Howitt abt 1843 Daug aged 8 scholar b. Little Ponton, Lincolnshire, England John Howitt abt 1845 aged 6 scholar b Harlaxton,Lincolnshire, England Catherine Howitt abt 1846 aged 5 scholar Harlaxton, Lincolnshire, England George Howitt abt 1849 aged 2 b.Harlaxton, Lincolnshire, England Elijah Howitt abt 1851 aged 2mo b.Spittlegate, Lincolnshire, England Thomas and Elizabeth married in 1841 in Denton, Lincolnshire in 1841 . Thomas's father was Robert Howitt, and Elizabeth's father was William Green. I think Elijah must have died prior to 1853 as this family emigrated to Australia then and he is not listed on the ships passenger list arriving in Adelaide, Australia. Also Thomas and Elizabeth had another child, born in 1855 in Adelaide, whom they named Elijah. Thomas married Elizabeth Green in 1841 in Denton Parish Church. His father is listed as Robert Howitt. Hers is William Green. Place of residence at time of marriage is given as Denton. Thomas was a labourer. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Shay Notify Administrator about this message?
