Hi, We have traditional Virginia USA history that says that Henry Dawson, of Breeden on the Hill, Leicestershire, England left his estate to his son Griffin in the 1600's, while his other 3 sons - Henry, John and Thomas came to the US, with each settling in different places in Virginia and Maryland. I am looking for descendants of Griffin, and also hoping to encourage any Dawson descendants to consider DNA testing. We have 3 who DNA tested now who match with son Thomas's line in Maryland (though I have not seen documented proof that Thomas was descended from Henry as yet). We have one person who has DNA tested from supposed son John's line, who does not match the Thomas's line but who does have a match with someone from another part of England. I'm still trying to get more Virginia Dawson's to participate in the Dawson DNA project. http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/d/dawson/ This project is open to any direct male descendant of a Dawson line. I'd like to ask any Dawson's who are on this list to consider testing and helping us match up our families from England to the US. We even have an Australian Dawson whose line came from England who has tested. http://www.familytreedna.com/ This is the company that many of us use to test. I hope there are some Dawson's on here who will help us out by testing! Thank you! Notify Administrator about this message?
