TOWNE, TOONE, TOON, TUNE FAMILIES LINK TO USA...NEED ADVICE
Posted by: Gloria Tune Saunders (ID *****2201) Date: February 10, 2007 at 11:26:09

Greetings. I have been researching and documenting my Tune family for about five years. It is now time to make the "jump across the pond", as I've seen it referenced. My immigrant ancestor was a James Toone, born circa 1620, supposedly in this part of England, although I have never seen any references on any databases as to documentation of the evidence. I do have this one reference:
"James Toone and his first wife (name unknown) had come to the Virginia Colony on October 10, 1651. They were transported by John King and listed as James Towne.
Cavaliers and Pioneers, Volume 1, page 221, by Nell Nugent."
As this is my first attempt to research abroad, I would most appreciate any advice, suggestions, etc. as how to proceed.
