I am searching for any connections to my ggrandfather Charles Henry Baxter, living at 53 Paradise Lane Leicester England on the date of 21 Sep 1897. Occupation at that time given as "Shoe rivetter" He is said to have died in Knottinghamshire Infirmary, date not known. He served in the Leicester Regiment, date not known and is said to have lost a leg in the "Indies" He was married to Emma Baxter (nee Gillen)who originated from Hunslet Leeds Yorkshire. She separated fromafter giving birth to several children) and returned with one or more of the children to Hunslet Leeds. The birth certificate I have is of one of the sons, Ernest Patrick Baxter, who was my grandfather, he was born at the address given in Leicestershire. The Baxter family are said to have originated from Ireland then Scotland, the Gillens too may be of Irish descent. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
