Russel, Sandra may be satisfied but you are the one who needs to be. Sandra says, " . . . 1851 census shows a Thomas Burnell married to an Elizabeth being 40 years old born Wickwar and the first child born Yate." Fair enough, but Wickwar not Bristol? It's a pity neither you nor she said where the census was held: I could look it up via Ancestry but will not bother. I would point out that the Registration District of Chipping Sodbury includes Wickwar and Yate ( see http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/RegOffice/ ) , so the 1844 marriage in the Chip. Sod. Reg. Dist. is, in my opinion, very likely to be "yours" irrespective of what the 1851 census also gives regarding ages - women are great liars when it comes to giving their age!! Disregarding all, you need to obtain a certificate (b or m) if you wish to be certain. Regards Geoff Notify Administrator about this message?
