Thanks for that information. I had not got around to checking that far back so this helps fill a gap. It does explain the difference in wives and also discrepancy about Charles SPENCER and his mother, who now appears to be Mary, and now possibly born the wrong side of the blanket.
As William points out, the favourite for mother now appears to be Mary Elizabeth, who is the daughter of Jane.
