James Robert England/Emaline Matilda Mote

There is a story in my family that James Robert England, who married my great grandaunt, Emaline Matilda Mote in Gordon County, Georgia, was the engineer of the Western & Atlantic Railroad's locomotive "General" hijacked in the Andrews Raid (the "Great Locomotive Chase") of April 12, 1862. However, I have recently learned that another man, E. Jefferson Cain, was in fact the engineer on duty that day.

Does anyone know if James Robert was actually employed by the Western & Atlantic and, if so, what position he actually held?
