Evening Liz

As both George and Amelia were born in the Statutory Registration period starting 1837 for England & Wales, you should be able to find their Birth records on Find My Past.

These may have their respective parents' names plus the date and location of the parents' Marriage.

Again from that dating, you may find the Marriage records, which may have at least the Fathers' names on them (G & A's grandfathers)

In conjunction with relevant Censuses, this may take back before that crucial year of 1837.

The unfortunate aspect is that you would have to order up full extracts of the respective records and wait around two weeks for their delivery.

This makes it slow and expensive unfortunately.

BUT it is the only way that you might make positive progress.

You may also be able to find the Death records for the grandparent generation, as it is likely that some occurred after 1837.

Fortunately up here in Scotland, we can access and download scanned copies of the Scottish records, both quickly and cheaply.

Alex
