At this point I can see no connection with my family of Engels, but canít definitively say there isnít either. My ancestors were indeed German, but spent approximately 100 years in Russia before immigrating to Colorado, all the while keeping their German language and traditions. Engel was the maiden name of my great grandmother Barbara (1/28/1848) who married Christian Moser. Her parents were Frederick Engel and Sophia Bietz. As previously mentioned they came to the US in 1888. They settled in Weld County, Colorado. Her brother (Heinrich) Henry (11/4/1850) and his wife Margarethe came to the US in 1889. I understand that they first went to South Dakota for six months to be with relatives and then also went to Colorado. I am not sure which relatives they visited. The closest I can find to your Elizabeth is Isabelle Elizabeth Engel born June 25, 1914 in Weld County, CO. She married twice, Frederick Domde and Edmund Hetterle. Barbara and Heinrich had brothers Matthaeus (9/15/1857) who married Dorothea Moritz, and Jacob (12/7/1852) who married Friedrike Neumuller. Either or both may have also immigrated to the US and joined their sister and brother in Colorado. If so, your Elizabeth could descend from them.
