Henry Engel/Engle was born 1850's in Schleswig Holstein area of Germany. His brother Herman came with him to America in 1880's. His sister Anna married Peter Johansen in Germany and they followed Henry to America about 1880. They all settled in Sherman Co., Nebraska and died there. Anna was my great grandmother. She died about 1888 in Rockville, Sherman Co., NE and was buried on the farm. Her daughter Anna Dorothea, my grandmother, was only 2 years old and was sent to live with her uncle Henry Engle and later was taken in by Henry's daughter Margretha after she married Hans Dibbern.

I would like to correspond with anyone connected to or researching this family. I have stories to share but very little in documented facts. I was unable to find Henry or Herman Engel/Engle in any census before 1920. We know they lived in Rockville and had businesses owned a store and the other was either a Livery Stable owner or a blacksmith. The Dibberns I found in Hall county in 1920.
