October Sessions 1827
In the name of God Amen. I John Endsley of the County of
Lincoln & State of North Carolina being of sound & perfect
mind and memory Blessed be to God for his mercy toward me,
Do this 3rd day of April in the year of our Lord 1827 make
and publish this my last will & testament in the manner
following, that is to say
1st. I recommend my Soul to God who gave it, & my body to
be interred in a Christian like manner, knowing that it is
appointed for all men once to depart this life, hoping still
that at the last day I shall be raised up with him in Glory
who is Lord of All and King of Kings.
2nd. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Deborah Endsley
the whole of my real estate except as here in after mention-
ed and my Negro man Allen and my negro girl Julia. Her
horse, her choice of my stock, one saddle & bridle, all of
my stock of cattle except as here in after mentioned, all
my sheep & eight head of hogs, her choice of the stock. My
wagon & gear and my farming tools and implements of every description belonging to the farm, all of the household &
kitchen furniture of every description & all my Bed steads and bedding [not legible] goes [not legible] her wheels, reel & cards, & leather & all my books to be for her use &
maintenance during her lifetime & widowhood, at [not legible] of the Before mentioned period, all of the above
mentioned property of what-ever [illegible], thereof to be
sold & equally divided between my eight children. Land and
negroes above named excepted

James Endsley, Sarah Endsley, Mary Endsley, John Endsley,
Jean Endsley, Martha Endsley, Elizabeth Endsley, William
Endsley, & Deborah Endsley , & if my wife Deborah Endsley
should marry; I allow her an equal part with the above
named children.
The land and negroes above named belong to my son William
Endsley at my wife's decease or changing her way of living.
Viz. I give and bequeath to my son John Endsley one hundred
acres of land that I bought of John Dunlap joining Charles
Thompson & also fifty acres of land out of a tract of 130
acres granted by patent to John Endsley dec'd on the 13th
of October 1783 off the south side of said tract along the
first line a long square from the second tract to the fourth
line of said tract.
4th. I give and bequeath to my son Jamee Endsley my cloak
and the balance of my clothing to be equally divided between
the said James and my son John Endsley.
5th. I give and bequeath to my daughters, that is, Jean
Endsley fifty six dollars and two cows out of my stock, or
the value thereof, Martha Endsley fifty six dollars and two
cows out of my stock & a side saddle or the value thereof,
the saddle to be of a good quality.

I also give and bequeath to my daughters Martha, Elizabeth
and Deborah Endsley each a flax spinning wheel the above
named money and saddles not to come out of my stock of
cattle.
6th. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Deborah Endsley
one hundred dollars in money, the remainder of the tract of
land that I sold to Phillip Craft is to be sold at One
dollar per acre, this and the balance of my money & property
not heretofore disposed of to be equally divided among my
nine children; James Endsley, Sarah Endsley, Mary Endsley,
John Endsley, Jean Endsley, Martha Endsley, Elizabeth
Endsley, William Endsley, Deborah Endsley & I hereby ordain
my beloved wife Deborah Endsley & my son James Endsley & my
son-in-law, Jas McFarley Executors of this my last will and
testament.
In witness whereof I the said John Endsley Sr. have to this
my last will and testament put my hand and seal the day and
year above mentioned.
Signed sealed published & declared by the said John Endsley
Sr. the testor as his last will and testament.
