I believe I've located Thomas Enderton, b. 1805, in the 1880 Census, living in Lewis, Essex Co., NY. Since I haven't seen this info on the Enderton genealogy pages, and it includes a possible correction for his daughter Susan, I'm posting it here.

The listing is for Enterdon [sic], Thomas, W M aged 75, widower, born Conn, parents born unknown. His relation to the head of household is Father-in-law.

The head of household is Wesley G. Ray, W M aged 39, farmer.

Wesley's wife (this Thomas's daughter) is Susan A. Ray, aged 41, born NY, parents listed as both born in Conn.

Since Susan A. Ray's name and age matches our Thomas Enderton's daughter Susan A., her father's name is a reasonable misspelling of "Enderton," and this Thomas matches our Thomas Enderton's age in at least some of the other censuses (I think others have him born in 1809?), I believe that this is our Thomas--especially since he as another daughter, Catherine Webster, living in the same town at the same time.

Thomas Enderton's place of birth appears in other censuses as New Jersey and Massachusetts, but it's not uncommon to see confusion over POB in census data, so appearing as Connecticut here doesn't preclude that this is our Thomas.

A note repeated on a couple of Enderton websites states of Thomas's daughter Susan A. Enderton: 'Vee Hausman says "might have married John Woodbury."' If she did, she later seems to have married Wesley G. Ray.

Children of Wesley G. and Susan A. Ray:

Anthony, b. about 1865 (15 in the 1880 Census)
Sylinda J., b. about 1873 (7 in the 1880 Census)

According to online cemetery listings for Lewis, NY, Wesley G. Ray died August 24, 1885, aged 45, and was a corporal in Co. A 28th Regt., NY Inf.
