Hi Pam, these Emslies are the descendants of the Sgt Robert Emslie, who with his wife and small children emigrated aboard a sailing ship to wild South Africa in 1820. Robert Emslie had been retired from the Gordon Highlanders because of his war wounds obtained in the Indian and Napoleonic campaigns.
