Nathaniel Emery

Hi, I don't know if this connects to your Emery line at all, but I am looking for a Nathaniel Emery (b)about 1862, I don't know where he was born but he married my (GG)Aunt Mathena Pendergrass on March 8, 1888 in Franklin county Arkansas. I am trying to get as much information on spouses as I can.

My Pendergrass family history/legend says that there is Indian, I believe it to be Cherokee, but hard to find proof, since according to the story one of my (GG)Uncles wanted to be a lawyer, and although he finished school and received his law degree he was not allowed to practice because of his Indian blood. He is said to have gotten a job in the building they were housing the records in, on the Oklahoma/Arkansas border, and destroyed the records proving the family's background. I haven't proven or disproven this story yet either.

Anyway I know that Mathena and Nathaniel had at least one son, I believe his name was John (b) about 1892, and she was deceased by 1920. If you have any information about my Emery's I will be happy to share all the information I have to date and any I find out about the Pendergrass line including Indian heritage with you.

Thanks,
Danita Pendergrass Cronkhite
