This is an old message, but I did want to add some additional information. Our family is researching Crane Eater, aka James Keith, dob 1790, grandson of Cornelius Keith and Juda Thompson of Pumpkintown SC. Cornelius Keith traded with Chief Great Eagle. An Eastern Cherokee application provided us with the name of "Eccatooca." Until recently, we have wondered who this could have been. Before I discovered your post, I thought perhaps it was Eughioote Eu Gi Oo Ge.

James Keith, aka Crane Eater's grandmother was Polly Thompson who lived at the head of the Etowah River in now Lumpkin County, Ga., near Dahlonega, just west of Helen. His grandmother's maiden name was ADAIR. We have narrowed down the possible Thompson and Adair families and hopefully, before long, we'll have a better idea of who they were.
