Emms in the USA

I'm looking for a connection to the UK. I am pretty sure the name would be Thomas Emms, possibly traveling with at least two sons from Liverpool in the spring of 1872. There is some likelyhood that the carrier was the RMS Abyssinia, but I have not found the name on any on-line manifests. One of the sons would be Herbert, and was my great grandfather. They would have settled in Pennsylvania and connected with coal mining there. I believe Herbert died in a mining incident between 1910 and 1912.
If anyone knows of a good accurate site to find ship's manifests, I'd love to hear about it.
