The Mrs. Mary Emmons you referred to was my great-great grandmother, Mary (Wilkinson) Emmons, wife of Loving Emmons b.1820 on Ms. She was living nextdoor to her relatives. I do not know why Loving wasn't listed as head of household. I figure they were either seperated, or he was working away from home because they were together in later census reports. They were in Lauderdale Co.,Ms. in 1860. In 1870, Mary was in Texas with some of the children and listed as head of household. The youngest child, Jonas Emmons, was 9, so they were in Ms. until at least 1861. One researcher said Loving and Mary had moved to La. in the 1860's and that he died in a POW camp and is buried in La., but she never sent me the documentation or source of that statement. Do you have any info that Shadrach was kin to Loving and Jonas Emmons there in Ms.? I feel like all those Emmons' were related, but can't verify how.
